Pizza Pazza

I am pleased to say that a third of my foodie interviews with Vauxhall eateries has been published on the hyper-local South Lambeth blog, Tradescant Road.

This time around I interviewed Pino & Françiane, the proprietors of the area's newest Italian restaurant, Pizza Pazza. They were warm, welcoming and chatted happily to me about everything from home-made salsicca to pizza ovens, fresh seafood and the lure of a great aperitivo.

If you've ever visited the strip of restaurants located on South Lambeth Road, you'll know why it's such good news that a non-Portguese eatery has opened. We are in need of variety here, and the addition of an authentic stone pizza oven stumbling distance from my house can only be a good thing. It's also one of the few places I know of, locally, where you can eat one of these bad boys: a Panuozzo (a giant sandwich made from pizza dough).

You can read the interview in full here (and do let me know what you think if you happen to visit)!

Hot Stuff

I am pleased to say that last week the second of my foodie interviews for the hyper-local South Lambeth blog, Tradescant Road, was published. (I am mostly pleased that I managed to submit it, because it took me ages to get around to this one as a direct result of being a human incubator for the dreaded lurgy for the past three weeks.)

Anyway, this time, I interviewed Raj Dawood, the owner/manager of the area's premier BYO Indian restaurant and takeaway: Hot Stuff. He was brilliant fun and was a thoroughly nice bloke, even showing me around the kitchens and letting me take photos of chefs playing with fire.

If you've ever been to Hot Stuff, you'll know why it's a local institution and why the tiny original restaurant was always packed to the rafters, and so they've opened a second, thank goodness. You can read the interview in full here.

P.S. Hot Stuff food is an excellent cure for the common cold, it would also seem.

Last of the summer cake

Its been bloody ages since my last post. But, just to prove I haven't slipped into a late-summer-early-autumn-birthday-cake-induced sugar coma, I present to you: my second restaurant review for streathampulse. Enjoy.

I shall be back with a self-indulgent dose of post-birthday loveliness as soon as I can move again for all that cake.

This is cool.

I'm now an 'in-house food and drink reviewer' for a local online magazine called Streatham Pulse. It's got my real name attached to it, so I guess this is a bit of an unveiling of sorts (not many of my friends/colleagues have known about this blog previously). It's been a kind of diary and a space to put thoughts down, but now may be the time to say,in the eternal words of Diana Ross - I'm coming out, I want the world to know, etc, etc.

So here I go, with the first of a monthly series of restaurant/bar/café reviews in and around Streatham. Hope you like, and check out the Streatham Pulse website and twitter account, it's a great idea and very ambitious considering its creator is running it singlehandedly. Long live the Pulse!

You can read my inaugural review of The Hamlet here and you can follow Streatham Pulse on twitter @streathampulse. Cheers.
